Barkin' Out the Window

'Barkin' Out the Window' happened one evening in the fall of 2002, when I was noodling around on my dulcimer while sitting on the glider outside our back door.  Sammi (Samantha), one of our two Jack Russels was yipping & barking & jumping at the window the whole time.  If I would've let her out she'd of been up next to me licking my face to butter me up so I'd play with her or take her for a walk or ride, so I just left her inside the door while I played.  I think I sorta picked up the beat of her frantic barking and jumping, and after I discovered this tune and decided it was worth remembering, I decided to call it 'Barkin' Out the Window.

Runnin' and a jumpin' & barkin' out the window,
got to get outside.
Runnin' and a jumpin' & barkin' out the window,
take me for a ride.

CHORUS:
Runnin', jumpin', barkin out the window,
got to chase them squirr'ls.
Runnin', jumpin, barkin' out the window,
that's our Sammi' girl.

Yippin' and a barkin',  lookin' out the window,
Daddy, look at that.
Yippin' and a barkin' & lookin' out the window,
there's a big ol' cat!
(chorus)

Yippin' and a whinin' & barkin' at the window,
don't you care at all.
Yippin and a whinin' & barkin' at the window,
Please, let's go play ball.
 (chorus)

Yippin' and a whinin' & jumpin' at the window,
I really have to go!
Yippin' and a whinin' & jumpin' with my legs crossed,
really hurts me so!
(chorus)
